"Someone please call 911. Tell them I've just been shot down. And the bullet's, in my heart. And it's piercing through my soul. Feel my body getting cold." - Wyclef Jean

Wyclef Jean released this song in 2000 chronicling a hurt he experienced from/behind a girl. I use this snippet today because it to speaks to the hurt I feel from my campus. My administration. And those who should be supporting students through the trails of the education system.

My heart hurts today. I attempted to present a plan to incorporate the ePortfolio into my department as a way to teach students to write essays. As a tested subject we have so many requirements that the students are not grasping. I just want to help. It seemed like the perfect way to incorporate learning as well and individual accountability while letting students have a say in the process.

There was not room to even lay out the plan. Just a flat out no. Oh well. Back to the drawing board tomorrow. I refuse to be defeated. This can work. Especially getting students involved in the creation of tools used to teach and assess their learning. I have decided that being a constant disruption to the archaic way of learning is the only way to effectively enact change.

That is my driving thought today anyway.
