- My journey -

My DLL journey began exactly like this video. I was excited, eager to learn, full of determination, and as soon as I got going I landed flat on my jump start.

YET!

The power of                    allowed me to get back up and try again.

YET!

I began using COVA to enhance my growth mindset, develop my learning manifesto, and took a leap of courage asking for help in new Professional Learning Communities.

I developed my e-portfolio, defended my design more times that I cared to, developed the best part of my voice. My authenticity became more visible to my peers and more people listened to what I wanted to say.

My PLN's grew, my heart for sparking change was backed up with research in my literature review, and I felt like I finally got the hang of things.

WHY?

WHY NOT!

WHY?

My 'why' became clearer than ever. I was able to plot out a plan of action for revolutionizing education and develop an innovation plan for my campus. I saw the value of beginning with the end in mind. Self-reflection became an integral part of the process.

The world is digital. Information and communication technology exist EVERYWHERE! I studied ICT and the value understanding the failed projects as well as the successful projects had on educators. I evaluated and re-evaluated myself continuously and used my reflections as a starting point for deeper reflection and improvement

Creating Significant Learning Environments was no small feat, yet through COVA, effective engagement, transparency, and grit it was possible. Students must be active participants in their learning. Having big goals and understanding backwards design allows students to take the reigns and enjoy what they are doing. I was able to see this unfold in 3 out of 5 of my class periods.

(Dr. Harapnuik's site was an invaluable source of encouragement throughout this journey.)

I tried my hand at developing online instruction and curriculum as well as gained in depth knowledge of digital citizenship. As a result of my learning, I implemented a digital citizenship tutorial for my classes before they began using Chromebooks. HUGE SUCCESS!

Pulling everything together has been a glorious stroll through the fields of constant reflection and self-improvement.

CHANGE    is    the    only     constant...
